CBCS 2018 To analyse and compare political, social, and cultural, influences in shaping literary trends and tendencies across history. To grow an awareness of the history of, and current trends in, English literatures. To comprehend rapidly changing philosophical milieus in terms of their impact on politics, society, and culture, as seen through literature.

To interpret texts and passages to recover deeper layers of meaning and relevance. To proofread, edit, write copy, and know the basics of

B.A. History Honours CBCS 2018 To get a broad overview of the chronological span ranging from the prehistoric to the contemporary era with a focus on South Asia. Besides, students would be acquainted with aspects of East Asia, West Asia and Europe. To grasp historical trends, historiography and historical debates after completion of programme. To be prepared for  NET/SET or other academic competitive examinations like, Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), School Service Commission (SSC), and other competitive examinations like the Civil Service Examinations. To develop a better understanding of the world based on facts.
B.A. Sanskrit Honours CBCS 2018 To develop the Sanskrit language skill to communicate both in writing and verbally. To accumulate a fair knowledge of the development of Sanskrit language and literature vis-à-vis its culture – how it emerged, evolved and sustained through the passage of more than thousand years. To appreciate the art and literature, especially in terms of great Indian heritage which is embedded in Sanskrit literature. To know the rich history and culture of ancient India through Sanskrit texts.
B.A. Political Science Honours CBCS 2018 To have an introduction to the dynamics of Indian politics. To articulate and participate as an informed and responsible citizens who have a direct role to play in nation-building. To  equip the student for competitive exams conducted by UPSC, WBPSC, SSC, NET, SET and enhances employability. To get an exposure to the functioning of different political systems across the world and their constitutions and governing structures, To grow leadership roles as a result of this activity that enhances skills.
B.A. Philosophy Honours CBCS 2018 To be able to think creatively and independently, exploring possibilities beyond those entrenched in prevailing opinion and practice. To acquire knowledge that is vital to the discipline of philosophy, including knowledge of core concepts, distinctions, theories, argumentative techniques, movements, and influential figures, within the core fields of aesthetics, ethics, epistemology, logic, metaphysics, and social & political philosophy. To reason clearly and carefully, employing the principles of logic to construct cogent arguments in both speech and writing. Their capacity to reason clearly

and carefully will be manifest in their use of a) deductive reasoning

skills, wherein the conclusion is embedded in the conditions that are

One must reason beyond the conditions that are known, given, or accepted. To develop a strong set of critical, imaginative and informed reasoning skills, will be able to understand the nature of the human mind, language, morality, politics, art, logic and will also become aware of the world, environment and speculate ‘hereafter’.

B.A. Education Honours CBCS 2018 To know the basic theories of Education in history and culture. To develop better understanding of the teaching-learning techniques. To apply psychological understanding in teaching-learning. To familiarize with the greatest educators and evolutions in teaching greatest contents.

B.Sc honours

  • The honours course in science provides opportunities to learn the CBCS curriculum as prescribed by the University of Kalyani.
  • Students get enriched with the contents of the syllabus which includes theory as well as hands on practical classes.
  • Students also get acquainted with different laboratory techniques which creates an aptitude of thinking out of the box.
  • This also triggers a key interest among the students to move into higher studies after graduation.
  • Some of the students even get interested to enter into research in different universities.
  • Students also get the opportunity to participate in various co-curricular activities such as student seminars, publication of wall magazine their extra-curricular skill is reflected.

Focus is created on various laboratory methods with emphasis on modern techniques to increase their ability for self-experimentation. Besides excursions and field visits on regular basis gives the students an opportunity to study nature which develops an instinct for research.
B.Sc. honours in Chemistry CBCS 2018 The curriculum develops a strong base on different aspects of Chemistry: organic, inorganic and physical. The students learn to master different laboratory techniques for performing practical experiments which increases their hands on efficiency. They also learn the art of skill to deliver presentation lectures via student seminars which develops their aptitude to think out of the box and motivate towards higher education and research. They also learn different computer related techniques for writing reports, making presentations etc.
B.Sc. honours in Computer Science CBCS 2019 This being a new course, commencing in 2019 has yet to produce its first batch of outgoing students. The CBCS curriculum teaches the students with the basic theory and knowledge of computer in various ways. They will be able to understand, design, implement and evaluate computer-based system, process or program to meet desired needs.  They get the opportunity solve software related problems and gain knowledge on programming which will assist to find jobs in the IT based industry.
B.Sc. honours in Environmental Science CBCS 2018 The students gain knowledge about major study areas of basic and applied ecology, pollution biology, environmental impact assessment, microbiology, Bioinorganic and Environmental chemistry, bioremediation, landscape ecology, geomorphology, remote sensing, resource studies, atmospheric science, environmental toxicology and immunology. Field visits are another important aspect of the curriculum where they get familiar with different issues of our environment and get the chance to deal with.
B.Sc. honours in Geography CBCS 2019 This being a new course, commencing in 2019 has yet to produce its first batch of outgoing students. The CBCS curriculum teaches the students with basic theory and practical knowledge which ease their way to go to higher studies.
B.Sc. honours in Mathematics CBCS 2018 Students develop the knowledge of logical and analytical skills for concurrent thinking which helps them in their higher studies. They also learn the advanced CBCS curriculum in Mathematics which provides the key to their future. They also learn different mathematical and computational techniques which helps them to secure jobs in various sectors.
B.Sc. honours in Physics CBCS 2018 The Curriculum helps to understand the basic principles of Physics, its significance and correlation with the daily used technologies. This gives a precise knowledge about different topics which are essential to understand the requirements at the advanced levels, particularly in higher education and research. The students are also entangled with different practical methods which are designed to develop handling capabilities, generate working experiences with the electrical and electronics circuits and optical instruments, and other instruments which generates an instinct of research work   in future.
B.Sc. honours in Zoology CBCS 2018 Students get good academic, laboratory and infrastructural facility and they also get acquainted with modern equipment which improves their hands on experimentation techniques. The students are also exposed to regular special lectures, workshops and seminars which create a motivation to get into the recent developments in the areas. Regular publication of wall magazine on various topics to encourages group activity and the habit of cooperation among its students. As part of curriculum annual excursions are conducted to provide first-hand knowledge on different collection and preservation methods of fauna and flora and to study them in their natural habitats and explore the biodiversity of different regions.
B.Sc. honours in Economics CBCS 2018 This programme provides a strong knowledge in understanding economic theories and their applicability in the society.  The students get a chance to identify basic problems of the economy and deliver probable solutions to it. They are also exposed to collect primary data to complete their students’ research project so that they can get the feel of the real economic behaviour of the individual and society at large. The students also get acquainted in developing an economic way of thinking.
